HTC NE70 Review: Does the Cyberpunk Design Deliver?
When HTC unveiled the NE70, the tech community had a unanimous reaction: "Wow, they look good." With their design inspired by Cyberpunk aesthetics — angular lines, metallic finishes, subtle RGB lighting — these TWS earbuds radically stand out. But does a beautiful object necessarily make a good product? We tested the HTC NE70 for two weeks to give you an honest verdict.
Design & Ergonomics: Love at First Sight Confirmed
In hand, the HTC NE70 impress. The charging case features sharp angles and a two-tone finish (matte black / metallic gray) that indeed recalls the visual world of Cyberpunk 2077. The earbuds themselves have subtly curved stems with discreet gold accents.
In terms of ergonomics, HTC has done a good job. The silicone tips (3 sizes provided) ensure a secure fit, even during a workout. After 2 hours of continuous wear, no noticeable discomfort — which is not always the case with "statement design" earbuds.
Highlight: the case closes with a satisfying magnetic click and fits perfectly in a pocket. No cheap plastic here.

Audio Quality: The Real Question
This is where many flashy-designed earbuds fail. The HTC NE70, however, perform honorably — with some nuances.
Bass
Present and punchy, without being overpowering. Rap, EDM, and electronic music lovers will be satisfied. Classical or jazz purists might find the bass a bit heavy.
Mids
Decent, with good voice reproduction. Podcasts and phone calls sound natural and intelligible.
Treble
Slightly recessed compared to the bass, which gives a "warm" sound signature. No aggressive sibilance — a good point for long listening sessions.
Soundstage
Decent for TWS in-ear headphones. Doesn't compete with high-end open-back headphones, but sufficient for an enjoyable immersive experience.
ANC: Effective for Daily Use
The NE70's hybrid ANC does a serious job on continuous noise: ventilation, office background noise, public transport. It effectively attenuates low and mid frequencies. However, like most ANC in this price range, it struggles with impulsive noises (nearby voices, car horns).
The transparency mode is well-calibrated: external sounds pass through naturally, without the "head in a fishbowl" effect found on some competitors.
Battery Life: No Surprises, But Solid
The advertised 8 hours (with ANC activated) were met in our tests — at moderate volume (60-70%). With the case, a total battery life of 30 hours is easily achieved. Wireless charging is a real plus for daily convenience.
Calls & Microphone: Pleasant Surprise
With 6 microphones in total, HTC has clearly invested in voice capture. In a quiet environment, the voice is clear and well-defined. Outdoors with wind, the microphone's noise reduction does a decent job — better than the category average.
Our Final Verdict
The HTC NE70 succeed where many fail: they are beautiful and good. The Cyberpunk design is not just marketing dressing — it comes with real build quality and solid audio performance for their price range.
They won't dethrone the Sony WF-1000XM5 or AirPods Pro 2 in pure audio quality. But for someone who wants earbuds that visually stand out while offering a complete audio experience and effective ANC, the NE70 are an excellent choice.
